Search a business or paste a Google Maps link. Get its Place ID, CID, review link and coordinates, each ready to copy.
Type a name and pick it from the list. You can also paste a Google Maps link (short maps.app.goo.gl links too), a g.page link, a Place ID or a CID.
Type a business name and city, or an address. Or paste a Google Maps link, a Place ID or a CID.
Pick the business from the suggestions, then check the name and address on the result card.
Copy the Place ID, the CID, a Google Maps link or the review link. Each value has its own copy button.
A Place ID is the text code Google uses to identify one place on Google Maps and in its Places API, for example ChIJgUbEo8cfqokR5lP9_Wh_DaM. Google has Place IDs for most businesses, landmarks, parks and intersections. The same listing also has a CID and a feature ID, and it turns up in two kinds of links.
| Name | What it looks like | Where you see it | What it's for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Place ID | ChIJgUbEo8cfqokR5lP9_Wh_DaM | Google's Place ID finder, Places API responses and the Business Profile APIs (metadata.placeId). | Places API calls, Maps embeds, review links, rank trackers and review widgets. |
| CID (ludocid) | 11749187091794056166 | Google Maps links with ?cid=, and Google Search links as ludocid. | A Google Maps link that opens the listing. Some local SEO tools ask for it. |
| Feature ID (FID) | 0x89aa1fc7a3c44681:0xa30d7f68fdfd53e6 | Inside long Google Maps links, after !1s. | Finding the CID by hand: the part after the colon is the CID in hex. |
| Google Maps link | https://maps.app.goo.gl/… or https://www.google.com/maps/place/… | The Share button in Google Maps, or your browser's address bar. | Sending someone to the listing. A long Maps link holds the feature ID and the coordinates, but no Place ID. |
| Review link | https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=ChIJgUbEo8cfqokR5lP9_Wh_DaM | Built from the Place ID. Owners also get a short review link under Read reviews > Get more reviews. | Asking customers for a review by email, text or QR code. |
A Google Maps link doesn't show the Place ID, so you can't copy it from the address bar. You need Google's own finder or the Places API.
Google's finder gives you the Place ID and the address, one place at a time. For the CID, see the next section.
Google bills Places API calls to your Cloud billing account. The fields you ask for set the price.
The CID is a number Google Maps uses to identify one listing, as in https://maps.google.com/?cid=11749187091794056166. Google Search links carry the same number as ludocid. Paste the listing's Google Maps link in the finder above and it shows the CID in decimal and hex. By hand, it takes four steps:
Open the listing on Google Maps in a desktop browser.
Look in the address bar for a pair of hex numbers after !1s, like 0x89aa1fc7a3c44681:0xa30d7f68fdfd53e6.
Copy the part after the colon (0xa30d7f68fdfd53e6) and drop the 0x.
Convert it from hexadecimal to decimal. The result, 11749187091794056166 here, is the CID. Use a converter that handles 64-bit numbers, because spreadsheets round long numbers and give a wrong CID.
Google's Places API has no lookup by CID, so you can't turn a CID into a Place ID with it. If you only have the CID, search the business by name above, or paste its full Google Maps link.
You'll need one or the other for these five jobs.
Add the Place ID to the end of https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= and you get a link that opens the review form for that place. Send it by email or text, or print it as a QR code.
In Google's Business Profile APIs, each location's metadata holds its placeId, a mapsUri link and a newReviewUri link. Use the Place ID to match an API location to a Places API result. Neither the location's own ID (locations/…) nor the Business Profile ID that owners see under Advanced settings is the Place ID.
The Maps Embed API takes q=place_id: plus the Place ID to put its marker on the right place. The Places API returns a place's details, photos and reviews by Place ID. Google lets you store Place IDs, so you can save them and look places up later.
schema.org's hasMap property takes a URL to a map of the place. You can put the CID link, https://maps.google.com/?cid= plus the CID, in your LocalBusiness markup.
Rank trackers and citation tools often ask for a Place ID or CID. A business name can match several listings, and the ID points to one.
Pair this with the rest of the free toolkit — every tool feeds the same playbook: rank higher, get more reviews, win the local pack.
